Sexual Side-Effects of the Latest SSRI Drug
Given the usually long duration of treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders with SRI drugs, even the less serious and reversible side-effects - such as sexual side-effects - become major issues. Small percentages of male and females in clinical trials of the latest SSRI drug, Lexapro, have reported sexual dysfunctions, but these percentages are higher than patients on placebo treatment. The consolation is that temporary sexual problems dont amount to a high price for the reward of successful treatment of depression and anxiety syndromes by the effective SSRIs.
