Depression - An Overview of the Disorder



Increasing numbers of people are being diagnosed with mental illnesses in Western Society, with clinical depression being by far the most prevalent. Depression, in the medical sense, is about more than feeling sad. The symptoms must be consistent for more than two weeks and include feeling down to the extent where it is impossible to function normally, feelings of being worthless, irritability, insomnia, poor concentration and, at the extreme end of the scale, suicidal thoughts.
